The foundations of Word of Hands began here: We had the vision from the BSL Home Group of “PRAYER” which means:

Summary of 'PRAYER'

As part of being active Christian, we felt the importance of the “triangle” which  is shown as (see image below):

That vision was the first step towards developing our teams gifts as they served the home group and the BSL Alpha course.

Later on, God gave us another vision of “LightHouse” and we received three different prophecies in different times / areas to confirm this word. We believed that God was telling us, and confirming, that the Church would be The Lighthouse to the Deaf Community across in Midlands, UK and the World.

Our leadership Team shared the desire of seeing the BSL Church set-up in Birmingham and we made a proposal to Riverside Church regarding this vision / plan. As part of the proposal, we listed how we planned to spread the word about this BSL Church to the Deaf Community: In the proposal note we mentioned this would be through “Word of Hands” rather than “Word of Mouth” , a Deaf friendly version! Judy Moore spotted the name of the church as “Word of Hands”.

This became the perfect name for the church as Word relates to God’s Word and Hands is our hands in sign language! Hands are where we can sign (spread) out the good news about Christ Jesus!

John 8:12 (NIV)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
